Never did I memorize our University song hahahaha.

UP Naming Mahal

U.P. naming mahal, pamantasang hirang
Ang tinig namin, sana'y inyong dinggin
Malayong lupain, amin mang marating
Di rin magbabago ang damdamin
Di rin magbabago ang damdamin.

Luntian at pula, Sagisag magpakailanman
Ating pagdiwang,[2] bulwagan ng dangal
Humayo't itanghal, giting at tapang
Mabuhay ang pag-asa ng bayan
Mabuhay ang pag-asa ng bayan.

what: LTO experience
where: Pila, Laguna
when: 2009.04.20

This morning I decided again to have an student license for driving so I wake up early and went straight in the LTO office. Fortunately, we have a contact there who will do everything for me to get my license, unfortunately I was required to go to the photo section. So I thought if that's just it then it's ok. Then we've waited, and the person in charge in that area came. She clean here place, clean clean clean, then she clean here face - clean clean clean and here desk clean clean clean. At this point I was getting frustrated WTF are you doing we are waiting here. Then she brought out here phone then text text text and have her coffee drink drink drink.

OMG I can't help but get frustrated and after almost 2.5 hours of waiting I finally give up. I mean what the hell is wrong with them, it's only a click, just one click which would not take more than 20 seconds.

I am paying my tax and is a good Filipino citizen so in my opinion I/we deserve a better service. Gosh they are so insensitive, unprofessional and all the negative words that you can say.

Maybe I'll try to get mine in another office. There is no hope in that one, may lighting strike upon you hahaha peace.

description: Testing wireless internet kits

Since it's a hassle to apply for a pldt dsl line in our place. I am now evaluating several wireless internet kit available in the market such as prepaid globe and smart as well as globe broadband.

I tried first smart bro prepaid unfortunately it has no speed difference compared to pldt vibe connection only 56kbps. The same is true using globe visibility prepaid.

This weekend, I tried globe broadband wireless at first. I tried it inside the house, I got no signal - as I suspected. Well I was planning on going to pldt to ask if they can help me setup an internet here fortunately, in the afternoon I've thought of testing the kit outside our house and to my surprise I got a beem. I got an internet and it is fast, I got time=416ms and ttl=237 when I ping google.

It was a relief, now I am sure I can purchase a globe wireless broadband and not be worried whether I will get a signal or not. BTW the kit is not mine I just borrowed it to test the connection in our place.

Thanks globe, maybe perhaps because the globe tower is just around 75 meters from our house.

Now, if anyone wanted to collaborate, develop or outsource a backend systems, web, mobile development you can freely contact me. Just send me a pm.

Starting your own business (from mini to not so mini)- Victoria, Laguna

For months now my mind has been constantly exploring about the possibility of me putting up mini businesses and in the end a not so mini one :-). I've been brainstorming and many ideas came up like water station, laundry service, computer shop, fruit stand, lamp shade, etc. I am optimistic and I know that with timely preparations I will be able to put up something.

But there were many factors that I did and have to consider. And the most basic one is what kind of business? a.) service oriented or b.) product oriendted (I preferred this for now). In what location? How should you start and many more.

People in our place are always saying that it's hard to establish one there because it's municipality offers little livelihood (meaning inhabitants preferred not to buy anything not necessary - like us). But I realized something it is in fact an ideal place to build a business why? Our place is along the main high way where tourist travel. I don't plan to target my fellow kabarangays as my clients but the travellers. But I know I have to start small cause I don't have much resources.

I started with a mini store (more known as sari sari store) and it turned out to be a success. We sell different type of typical goods like softdrinks etc. Then I put up the fruit stand where we sell different type of fruits like watermelon, buko, mango etc. the usuals. We also tried shakes and halo halo inside a buko shell - delicious right?

I've also started gathering information with the candle and lamp making business. I can say these two products are promising. Last week I went with a friend of a friend who knows how to do things with candle - I've learned a lot thanks Rey of Pansol :-). Now I know what, where to buy and it's a valuable inputs. I've compiled several tutorials from the internet on how to make candles, what materials, amount, composition, etc. I plan to release something within a month. Maybe something like tear drop luminaries. I also plan to sell these two products online. Well I've done a wonderful zencart powered e-commerce site here: http://topamanila.com - right? :-). Maybe someday I can try exporting too.

I'm also looking for a cheap ice cream and donut maker. I like the donut maker in Enchanted Kingdom, I think it's lilorbitz. I wonder if anyone knows where I can buy these machines in cheap prices. Even a second hand would do just to start.

Then we're also planning to put up our own software company. We're slowly and carefully planning it. We plan to cater mobile(j2me, iphone, windows mobile), web apps(php, jsp, c#), as well as oracle reports, erp, cms, e-commerce systems etc. I have a team and potential clients. Just need more big ones to start it. I've been working partime for quit sometime now anyway so why not put up my own.

Globe MyBPI Menu

I changed my SIM card to Globe so I will have a MyBPI menu to check my BPI accounts. Unfortunately, there is no BPI menu. The BPI CSR pointed me to globe to ask for assistance and I found out that I was using the not 64K or just the normal SIM card and they advised me to use the Extreme Globe SIM.

After I changed my SIM again there is now a MYBPI menu. I re-enrolled and I finally got my BPI accounts management on my Globe SIM Phone (though it took me a while to activate - lots of network error, busy connection, connection lost, etc).

To activate Globe MyBPI just go to: Globe Services -> myFavorites -> Add Favorites -> What's Hot -> BPI Mobile.

Then activate your mobile by:
Send: ENROLL JAI ACCTNO to 2274

Or

Go to BPI Mobile -> Acct Main -> Add Acct

Philippine Tourists Destinations

I want to develop an application in iPhone that will promote our tourist destinations here in the Philippines. A simple list of places with images and short descriptions. At first phase the data will be embedded on the device and if this work out I plan to develop a host where the iPhone client will query the information.

Unfortunately, I've emailed every possible government agencies even private where I can get the above information and until now I got no reply. I never thought it will be this difficult to contact those guys :-).

I might just buy a travel book and make it as a reference (but isn't that illegal?). Oh well if anybody knows a public information where Philippines Tourists' Destination is available please just inform me :-).
